Major Hurricanes

There have been several major hurricanes to hit the United States over the past decade. These hurricanes caused billions of dollars in damages to the areas they hit.

One of the costliest and deadliest hurricanes in the history of the United States was Hurricane Katrina. This hurricane formed over the Bahamas on August 23, 2005 causing severe destruction along the Gulf coast from central Florida to Texas.

Hurricane Ike made landfall on September 13, 2008 east of Galveston, Texas, and caused approximately $34 billion in damages in the U.S.

Some of the other major hurricanes that have hit the United States over the past decade include Hurricane Rita, Hurricane Dolly, and Hurricane Wilma.
